About Dr. Ogungbe
Dr. Ogungbe is post-doctoral fellow at Johns Hopkins University. She has expertise in cardiovascular, clinical epidemiology, and public health research. She led the “Cardiac PASC” study, a multi-methods study that characterized subclinical myocardial injury using high-sensitivity cardiac Troponin I and other inflammatory biomarkers in persons who have had COVID-19 and examined cardiac-related post-acute sequelae of COVID-19. Her Post-Doctoral work is within the AHA-funded LINKED-BP Program, an innovative multilevel intervention linking self-measured blood pressure monitoring with a mHealth app – that links all Bluetooth-enabled validated BP devices with community health workers at primary care practices serving high-risk populations to prevent stage 2 hypertension. She also works on studies focused on assessing cardiometabolic health of underserved populations, including among African immigrants, health disparities research, development and implementation of innovative methods to improve diversity in recruitment, and innovative global hypertension care strategies. As a HERN Fellow, her project objectives include conducting multidimensional, multilevel analyses of the social determinants of hypertension within the RESTORE Network.
She was raised in Nigeria, earned her MPH in Epidemiology from Jackson State University, Mississippi, and PhD from Johns Hopkins University. She has won numerous awards, including the prestigious PEO International Peace Scholarship award, the American Heart Association Early Career Award, and was recently appointed as an Early Career Assistant Reviewer for Hypertension journal.
